Teacher Resources: Studio DSO

Through the Studio DSO program, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra shares its artistic and educational resources with Dallas area schools and universities by bringing the world's finest professional musicians into direct contact with students.

Studio DSO encompasses five types of activities:
  • Events with DSO guest soloists and conductors which include master classes, lectures, conversations, Q&A sessions, and personal coaching for high school and college music students.
  • Sessions with the DSO's visiting composers which focus on composition and contemporary music for high school and college music students. The DSO also collaborates with Voices of Change on the North Texas Young Composers Project.
  • DSO musician and staff led lectures/demonstrations, career-day presentations, master classes, and clinics for students in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as college.
  • Video master classes with DSO musicians, a way to ask DSO musicians questions directly, a place to post your own reviews of DSO concerts, up-to-date information about music scholarships, auditions, and competitions, special opportunities just for teens, and more!
  • Open rehearsals for band, choir and orchestra students in middle school, high school, and college.

Nothing inspires young musicians more than positive contact with leading artists in their field. Through Studio DSO, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra brings students face to face with top musicians, composers, and conductors for meaningful exchanges about music while providing students with role models for their personal quests for artistic excellence.
